HAPPY HEALTHY NEW YEAR!
Now, more than ever is a great time to kick off the year with a fresh and healthy focus by introducing the community to a collaborative health alliance called “Live Well.” Live Well is an East Orlando Health Alliance of community health providers in all areas, including mind, body and spirit. This program was born out of a grant awarded to Avalon Park Group in 2016, called “Working Well” from Advent Health, to become one of the healthiest companies in Central Florida to work for. One of the determining factors of the award was that the company would take the information learned over the three year grant period and launch it into the Avalon Park communities. After completing the company program successfully, and subsequently navigating through a pandemic in 2020, the timing is right to introduce the tools developed to the community through the Live Well health initiative. Understanding that there are many components to a holistic healthy lifestyle, Avalon Park Group and Advent Health went into the community to find additional health partners, like the YMCA, local churches, schools and mental health counselors to collaborate and add new education, programs, and other resources for the community. Last year the committee surveyed the community and based on the feedback from the community, this is the first step into making Avalon Park and East Orlando the healthiest community in Central Florida.
The Live Well committee is excited to introduce a few of these resources to you this month:
- Monthly Challenge-Each month a new challenge calendar will be released encouraging you to get your body moving. (See Calendar Below)
- Live Well Trail-A 5K (3.1 miles) loop has been outlined in the community and marked by the signs below. Each month we will be adding new challenges and tips to the trail. To see the full route visit here.
- Avalon Bike Share Program-COMING SOON!
